🏅 Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Coaching

You will:

Teach PE across Key Stages 3–4, and potentially younger or older groups depending on experience

Lead high-quality swimming lessons and oversee safe aquatics practice

Develop students’ physical literacy, confidence, and teamwork

Coordinate sports activities, fitness programmes, and enrichment clubs

Promote healthy lifestyles and positive attitudes toward physical activity

Leadership Responsibilities

Requirements

I. Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following formal qualifications:

Education to Degree Level or Equivalent.

• A recognized Teaching Qualification (e.g., B.Ed, PGCE, iPGCE, QTS).

Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

• If applicable, must provide their Teacher Reference Number.

II. Skills and Experience

The successful candidate must demonstrate specific professional skills and experience:

• Have excellent subject knowledge.

• Have experience of teaching the British Curriculum.

• Understand the requirements of working in an independent school.

• Understand the requirements of working in an international school.

• Be committed to contributing to the extra-curricular life of the school.

• Be computer literate.

Benefits

Total Monthly Gross Package (Estimated): The gross monthly package (Basic Salary + Allowances) ranges approximately from £1,575.99 to £2,360.70, varying based on experience and qualifications.

End of Contract Bonus: A lump sum bonus is paid upon successful completion of the 23-month (first) or 24-month (renewal) contract. This bonus is performance-based:

£4,000.00 for a single person.

Flights and Travel: One-way economy class airfare is organized for arrival, and a one-way return airfare is purchased by ISS after the successful completion of the two-year contract.

Shipping Allowance: The school pays shipping costs for up to 100kg of cargo, not exceeding £547.95 (SCR10,000).

Insurance: The school provides insurance covering staff for accidents in school and some serious illnesses and hospitalization. Expat staff receive additional cover extended to their spouse and children.


Training and Professional Development

ISS supports staff growth through continuous professional development (CPD) and clear structures for career advancement.

Online Training Access: All staff receive subscriptions to two online training platforms: National College and TES.

Advanced Qualification Funding: The school offers an annual application round to fund staff wishing to undertake advanced qualifications, selecting up to two members of staff per year for support.

Performance Management: Staff actively engage in the Performance Management Review process, which helps identify and address training needs.

Roles of Responsibility: Positions of responsibility are available for staff to apply for annually, aiding career progression.

Safeguarding Training: Appointment is subject to rigorous safer recruitment checks, and the school provides training on its Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.

Lifestyle and Welfare Benefits

Holidays: Staff are entitled to 12 weeks of holiday a year, which must be taken during School Holidays.

Relocation Support: New expat staff are met upon arrival, taken directly to their accommodation, and provided with a welcome pack of basic necessities (e.g., water, bread, soap).

Accommodation Assistance: The school assists in finding suitable, safe, and comfortable accommodation close to the school. They also help arrange initial car hire.

Administrative Assistance: Assistance is provided with arrival formalities, including opening a bank account and acquiring resident documentation (National ID cards).

Orientation: New expat staff and their families participate in a short induction program and a tour of the island to get acclimatized.

Climate and Environment: Seychelles offers a tropical oceanic climate with little temperature variation, lush vegetation, and famous beaches, contributing to a relaxed way of life.

Work Environment: Classrooms are equipped with air conditioning and internet access. Staffrooms provide a comfortable space for relaxation and collaboration, furnished with amenities like complimentary tea/milk and refrigerators.

Social Life: The school hosts regular staff parties throughout the year (e.g., Christmas, Labour Day, and Teachers’ Day) to promote community. Staff social groups and interests (e.g., yoga club, staff choir) also exist.

Child Supervision: Staff children who are pupils at ISS can stay at school supervised by a staff member until 3:30 pm if their lessons finish earlier.
